James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds…
This is a tough passage to digest (Gulp!). If this passage were served as a meal on a plate, there would be no house salad with dressing, no rolls with butter, and no tasty appetizers. Just the meat! James goes straight to serving the main entrée.
It’s not easy sometimes to follow the scripture. It’s not fun to try and do the right thing. It’s not a simple task to be a “doer” of the Word and not just a “hearer”. It’s not popular to follow a different formula for success than what our society offers us.
But when you add into the formula of your life,
the Word of God,
made flesh through Jesus Christ,
who was born of a virgin,
who chose to be crucified on the cross,
who was buried in a tomb,
who is now resurrected to the throne above,
who is seated beside the Father,
who makes intercession on your behalf,
despite the circumstances around you,
deep down inside of you, there is…
Joy unspeakable and full of glory…
(1 Peter 1:8)
