Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Let me briefly encourage you today, to taste of the Lord’s goodness. Do not be deceived by the candies and cookies of this world. The sugars that are so sweet to the taste buds. When used by the enemy to destroy you, those things will taste wonderful at the first bite, but will break down the very nutrients that you need to live. And when you continue to eat of its fruit, your taste will surely become bitter as the rotten core will be exposed for what it is. Inspect the fruit first. Again, I encourage you for your own health to pause and take a good long look at the fruit, inspect it before you take a bite (remember Eve, and don’t just stop with her, remember Adam).
But even in their sin, the Lord IS good. He had given them many things to taste in the garden. And they had them right at their fingertips, but sin removed them. BUT God who is rich in mercy, came in and redeemed mankind. They were the first to taste the “richness” of God.
As you turn from the goodies that the world offers you, you will begin to have a keen sense of taste for the richness of God. You will begin to feast. Your spiritual taste buds will change, and those things that are offered from the world will become bitter to the buds.
If things begin to taste bitter to you … It just might be that the taste buds are changing.
I myself have experienced that I am hungry all the time. I want to eat (graze) everything that I see that looks good. Things that I used to be able to eat, I can no longer digest. I wanted an apple turn over yesterday, and after eating it I was nauseated. But on the flip side, I have also began to crave things that I know are good for me … I also wanted beets for supper last night. And they were so good. Good to my taste buds and good for my body … So go ahead …
