Loud.noise

“Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.”  Act 2:2

Today there’s a lot of comfort in knowing that there is a whole lot of noise going on in heaven.   I have never really thought about heaven being like a busy, bustling home…. But there’s proof.  There’s a whole lot of living going on, not just here on earth but in heaven too.   Some of that heavenly sound can spill over here on earth whenever it wants too.   “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

water.walking

Matthew 14:28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him …

Water walking is not for the faint hearted. When we ask to walk on water, we are asking for Jesus to allow us to do what is impossible..without Him. We are asking for Jesus to bless our impossibility. We are asking Jesus to override earthly gravity, and allow heavenly possibilities. We are asking for something great, from the one who is Great.

Is it okay to do that? Peter thought so. Peter said … “If it is you, command me to come”. Jesus didn’t discuss the details, or ask Peter any questions … Jesus said “Come”. And so we see that Peter had his request granted. And there we see Peter do the impossible. Defy gravity and step into miracle territory. However, as Peter took the leap of faith, we see that truly Peter wasn’t a great water walker.

In our smallest attempts to do something great, you and I may still prove that we are not great water walkers, but we may point someone else to the fact that Jesus IS still the great Savior. Even in our failures, is it possible that Jesus may still be glorified? Maybe so. Because with Jesus all things are possible, right?

(After Jesus saves Peter we see…)

Matthew 14:33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

When we travel through rough waters,
we tread lightly on the waves,
hoping only to walk above them,
but having to trust His hand to save.
